If bandages are used for your chemical peel, they will be removed within a day or two.
At this time, your face will be cleansed and ointments may be applied to speed up the healing process. After a chemical peel Swelling of the affected area is to be expected. Moving around rather than lying in bed is recommended to keep swelling to a minimum. Keeping your head slightly elevated after a chemical peel when reclining is also advised.
As your skin heals from your chemical peel, crusts will begin to form and some tingling and itching may occur. Cool compresses can reduce those sensations.
After the crusts fall off, your skin might appear quite pink. This coloration will fade a few weeks after your chemical peel. During this period, special ointments, soaps and cosmetics may be recommended.
Your skin must not be exposed to direct or reflected sunlight for several months after a chemical peel and you should wear sunscreen at all times when out of doors.
